Whether you are completely new to pole dancing or looking to visit our studio, take a look here to see what level will be right for you. Pole dancing is an exciting and empowering experience, and at London Dance Academy, we’re dedicated to guiding you every step of the way!
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to level up your skills, if you want to train conditioning and stamina, or choreography and tricks, if you have an inner performer or want to compete, our range of pole classes caters to all levels and aspirations.
Let’s explore our pole levels and find the perfect fit for you.
At London Dance Academy we run classes from Discover Pole up to Level 4, as well as in-between levels if you’re not feeling ready for the next step. We also have a variety of Spin, Heels, Choreography, Conditioning and Flexibility classes to expand your practice.
We realise that in the heart of London people lead very busy lives with ever changing schedules, this is why we opt for drop-in classes as opposed to courses. In the studio and online, we do this so you can progress at your own pace, attending as many or as few classes per week as you wish. This also gives you the freedom to take classes with all our amazing teachers, seeing how they put their own individual flair on their classes, and seeing who you gel with the best. We also have pole and studio hire, if you want to practice on your own any of the moves you’ve learned in class, or you just need extra time to prepare for a competition or performance.
If you’re still not sure after reading this, ask us at reception or have a chat with your teacher if you think you’re ready to level up!
Discover Pole (Complete Beginners)
If you have never touched a pole before then this is the class to start with. Our experienced teachers will walk you through the basics, including terminology, basic sit and spins, culminating in a short choreo – we recommend you attend between 2 and 3 Discover Pole classes to get a grasp on the fundamentals before progressing to our Level 1 classes

Level 1 (Foundation): Building Strength and Confidence
Don’t forget we were all beginners once!
During our Pole Level 1 (Foundation) class your posture, fitness and confidence will improve and more importantly, you’ll have loads of fun. As well as learning the London Dance Academy Level 1 curriculum, you’ll learn how to choreograph to form your own beautifully flowing routines.
Our Level 1 syllabus consists of basic spins, climbs, and the most exciting move everyone wants to learn, going upside down! We call this a pole invert .
These important skills will help to lay the groundwork for your pole dancing journey. By mastering the basics, you’ll build strength and muscle engagement essential for safely progressing to more advanced moves.
Spin Pole Beginners/Sensual Pole/Pole Choreo/ Heels Pole/ Lyrical Pole
If dancing is what you love or if you have always dreamed of trying it, once you have a grasp on Level 1, you can attend any of these classes. Some are perfect for trying in heels, where others are better barefoot or in ballet shoes. You can read more about the differences in our class list.
For all of our flowy dance’y classes knee pads are highly recommended.

Level 2 (Elementary): Building On Your Confidence & Branching Out
Level 2 is where you start to explore and fine tune your inversions as well as more complicated one armed spins and climbs. Key moves and transitions we’ll work on are straddle inverts (that’s going upside down with your legs in a straddle). Mastering this is one of the most important moves in pole.
Confident outside and inside leg hangs and the beautiful iconic butterfly! We not only work on individual tricks but also building strength and stamina by linking the tricks forming more challenging choreography.
Once you have mastered key moves such as Inverted Straddle on both sides, you are ready to move on to our Pole Level 3 (Intermediate) classes.

Have a chat with your teacher to see what you need to do to Level up. And if you are not sure try one of our in-between classes like Level 2-3 (Ele-mediate) class.
Level 2-3 (Ele-mediate): Bridging the gap
For those in-between moments, our Ele-mediate class offers a bridge between Levels 2 and 3. Whether you need a confidence boost or wish to re-train lower-level moves, this class provides tailored support to help you transition smoothly to Level 3.
In between Levels 2-3 (Ele-mediate) Pole class
This level is especially helpful if you are coming to us from another Pole school, confident with the basics of Level 2 but need a bit more support before you feel ready for Level 3 with us.
London Dance Academy was the first school to offer these in-between levels. We specially designed them so that you don’t get stuck on levels. We all have different strengths, sometimes we nail the move straight away but there are other times we may need more time to perfect that particular trick you find challenging. You might also like to try training with another couple of teachers for a fresh perspective.
Spin Pole 2-3 (Ele-mediate)
The Spinning Pole Ele-mediate class is perfect for upper level 2, lower level 3 students, especially those wishing to further their pole skills and techniques. Spinning pole really works on your arms and core for improved strength and endurance. You will learn to control and hold your moves while performing diverse routines, including spins, climbs, inverts, and graceful transitions.

Level 3 (Intermediate): Embrace the challenge
Level 3 is designed to challenge you and enhance your core strength, flexibility, and endurance. From true grip Ayesha to extended butterfly, you’ll tackle more advanced tricks and combos that form jaw dropping routines. Our instructors will guide you through combos, pushing you to reach new heights in your pole dancing journey.
Be prepared to work hard – in the Pole Level 3 (Intermediate) class spotting is always important, but now that you have built the strength and confidence to safely enter and exit your moves, we will encourage you to expand on your repertoire under the watchful eyes of our experienced teachers.
Why are we obsessed with spotting you ask? Here’s Melissa to explain why in our blog.
Level 3-4 (Inter-vanced): Perfecting Your Skills
Our higher level classes are taught by world champions in the industry. During our Pole Level 3-4 (Inter-Vanced) class your teacher will patiently help you to perfect the more challenging and key moves from these combined levels so that you can confidently transition into Level 4 classes.
If you’re coming back to Pole after a break, joining us from a different school or simply wish to re-cap on some of the signature moves from these two higher levels, this is the class for you.

Level 4 (Advanced): Pushing your limits
In Level 4, you’ll continue to evolve, learn the latest combos while adding more spice and perfecting your technique. From building strength, flexibility and stamina to mastering the latest tricks, this class is designed for those who are fully committed to pole and wish to take it all the way.
You will be supported by our internationally recognised elite level instructors, where your safety is always our number one priority.
We will help you to build your strength and stamina, teaching you how to pull off some of the most advanced pole tricks and transitions seamlessly.
