FAQs on Health advice
For all classes, please let the instructor know at the start of the class if you have any known health conditions or injuries. This is important, so the teacher is aware and can demonstrate alternative techniques where needed.
For our Aerial Yoga classes, there is a list of conditions for which it is not recommended to undertake these types of exercise. Please refer to the class description for details or contact us via email or phone if you’re unsure.
If you are pregnant, or think you might be, or have any existing/ongoing health concerns, or have undergone recent surgery, it is always advisable to contact your GP before taking up any new exercise routine.
If anything does not feel right during class, or you feel dizzy, please stop whatever you are doing. Let the teacher know immediately, so we can help you and ensure you are looked after appropriately.
Do I need to bring anything to class?
Normally we provide all equipment as well as yoga mats, blocks, stretching/TheraBands, hand weights and any other kit used in your class.
Some classes require knee pads, if there are any special equipment needed we will always let you know in the class description.
Please bring a towel if you are taking part in one of our high-intensity cardio classes and don’t forget your water bottle! (Water is available for sale at reception as well).
We stock Pole Grip if you need it, just as at reception. Rosin is provided in aerial classes.
Please remember to eat before your workout (but not too close to the start of your class, of course!) and keep hydrated!
London Dance Academy’s cancellation policy
At London Dance Academy we operate a 12 hour cancellation policy. As long as you cancel at least 12 hours before your scheduled class or waitlist, you will not lose that class. The class will be re-credited to your profile and you will be able to use it for another booking.
There are no refunds on late cancellations. If you late cancel, you will lose the class. This is to allow us to notify anyone on the waiting list in time, and to vacate spaces for anyone else who may want to sign up with enough notice.
We do understand that sometimes situations arise and we will of course always try to make allowances if you are having trouble due to something beyond your control (transport issues, accidents, last minute emergencies). Please note we will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion.
Refunds and Transfers
Class Packs and Memberships are non refundable and non transferable. Individual class refunds are available as long as they have not been used and are within the expiry date.
Once you purchase your classes, pack or membership, please make sure you know the expiration date and use all classes before that date.
We are always reasonable and do understand you have other commitments. So, in cases of long-term injury or illness, unforeseen changes in working patterns (such as having to travel abroad for work for long periods), we will of course try to accommodate those changes and extend membership or class validity.
Please note any extensions are an absolute exception for emergency or very specific circumstances only. They are a concession on our part as we value you as students. Studio management will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion.
For more information, please refer to our Terms & Conditions page.
Latecomer Policy
At London Dance Academy, we understand it can sometimes be difficult to navigate London transport or get out of the office.
Our priority is always to deliver classes in a safe manner and to prevent injuries, the warm-up is an important part of the class and you will not be permitted entry if it has been missed. Please do not take it personally if we have to refuse you entry to a session due to lateness.
For Aerial Yoga and Aerial Deep Stretch classes, due to the nature of the classes and set-up required, it is not feasible to allow latecomers. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled session. This will permit the teacher time to measure your hammock and explain the health and safety notices before starting. Please be aware you will not be able to join once a session is underway. This is for your benefit, to prevent injury and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable class.
If you think you will be running late, please inform reception, so we can alert your teacher. Please note our cancellation notice policy is 12 hours prior to your class.
Facilities
We provide a mixed changing room and lockers, please bring your own padlock.
If you wish to take your items into the studio please ensure bags, shoes or coats are neatly stored away and don’t interfere with the class activity.
If you are taking part in a high-intensity/cardio-focused class, you may want to bring a gym towel with you.

For pole dancing: Shorts are a necessity for pole, as skin on pole contact is required for most moves. Sports wear such as fitted shorts/gym shorts, sports bras and/or tank tops and bare feet is required. Some classes will also require heels, kneepads or removable layers (please refer to each class description for details). For aerial and yoga classes: Sports wear such as T-shirts or long-sleeve training tops, and leggings with bare feet, socks, or yoga socks. No see-through material is allowed. No undergarments allowed to be used as work out attire. Please note we have a strict no outdoor shoes policy in all studios. If you are participating in a pole class, please make sure not to use moisturiser / avoid any moisturising 24 hours before your class. This is very important as it will affect your grip and ability to hold onto the pole with your legs, and can cause you to fall if not adhered to!Which level am I?
Most of our classes are suitable for all fitness and experience levels, but please refer to the descriptions on the respective class page for details. If you are unsure, please email us at bookings@londondanceacademy.co.uk or call us on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise. All of our Aerial Yoga classes are suitable for all levels, but we would recommend you check each class description carefully before booking, and contact us if you have any questions. For pole dancing levels, if you are a complete beginner, please start by attending our Discover Pole sessions. Once you’ve done one or two of these, you can progress to Level 1 (Foundation). All our pole level sessions can be booked flexibly, so you can work around your work schedule and other commitments. You can tailor your lessons to your desired training intensity. Your teacher will let you know when you have mastered all the moves for the respective level. Please note, you should only go to a higher level once a teacher has confirmed you’re ready. Not a beginner but not sure which level is right for you?
You might be coming from a different school or country, and our grading system might be different to what you are used to. Or if you had a break, you may not be quite sure where to start from again. In either case, we would suggest emailing us at bookings@londondanceacademy.co.uk or calling the studio on 020 3490 1018. We can discuss where you currently are, and consult one of our many teachers for their advice as to which level you should try with us. We also run a wide range of choreography, spinning pole, flow, tricks, flexibility and conditioning classes for all levels. Our flexibility and conditioning classes have been specially designed to cater for dancers and aerialists. Our teachers are always happy to advise which specific classes you would benefit from to maximise your progress and training success. Why Pole Dancing?
