Class, Health and Age FAQs
Are There Any Limitations on Size, Fitness or Experience?
At London Dance Academy we cater for all shapes, sizes, fitness and flexibility levels without any limitations.
If you’re unsure if a certain class is suitable for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us at bookings@londondanceacademy.co.uk or on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise.
Are There Any Age Limitations?
As an adult school, the minimum age is 18, due to insurance purposes.
We do not have a maximum age limit!
What is Your Health Advice?
For all classes, please let the instructor know at the start of the class if you have any known health conditions or injuries. This is important, so the teacher is aware and can demonstrate alternative techniques where needed.
For our Aerial Yoga classes, there is a list of conditions for which it is not recommended to undertake these types of exercise. Please refer to the class description for details or contact us via email or phone if you’re unsure.
If you are pregnant, or think you might be, or have any existing/ongoing health concerns, or have undergone surgery recently, it is always advisable to contact your GP before taking up any new exercise routine.
If anything does not feel right during class, or you feel dizzy, please stop whatever you are doing. Let the teacher know immediately, so we can help you and ensure you are looked after appropriately.
Which Level am I? Which Class is Right for Me?
Most of our classes are suitable for all fitness and experience levels, but please refer to the descriptions on the respective class page for details. If you are unsure, please email us at bookings@londondanceacademy.co.uk or call us on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise.
For pole dancing levels, if you are a complete beginner, please start by attending our Discover Pole sessions. Once you’ve done two or three of these, you can progress to Level 1 (Foundation).
All our pole level sessions can be booked flexibly, so you can work around your work schedule and other commitments. Your teacher will let you know when you have mastered all the moves for the respective level.
Please note, you should only go to a higher level once a teacher has confirmed you’re ready.
Not a beginner but not sure which level is right for you?
You might be coming from a different school or country, and our grading system might be different to what you are used to. Or if you had a break, you may not be quite sure where to start from again.
In either case, we would suggest dropping a level to guage where you in relation to our syllabus. Any pole teacher will be able to observe you and advise on the classes most suited to you.
We also run a wide range of choreography, spinning pole, flow, tricks, flexibility and conditioning classes for all levels. Our flexibility and conditioning classes have been specially designed to cater for dancers and aerialists. Our teachers are always happy to advise which specific classes you would benefit from to maximise your progress and training success.
Clothing and Equipment FAQs
Do I Need to Bring Anything to Class?
We provide all equipment as well as yoga mats, blocks, stretching/TheraBands, hand weights and any other kit used in your class.
Please bring a towel if you are taking part in one of our high-intensity cardio classes and don’t forget your water bottle! (Water is available for sale at reception as well).
Pole Grip can be bought at reception, and rosin is provided in aerial classes.
Please remember to eat before your workout (but not too close to the start of your class, of course!) and keep hydrated!
What Should I Wear?
For pole dancing: Sports wear such as fitted shorts/gym shorts, sports bras and/or tank tops or T-shirts and bare feet, and/or high heels depending on the class. Some classes will also require knee pads or removable layers (please refer to each class description for details).
For aerial and yoga classes: Sports wear such as T-shirts or long-sleeve training tops, and leggings with bare feet, socks, or yoga socks.
No see-through material is allowed. No undergarments allowed to be used as work out attire.
Please note we have a strict no outdoor shoes policy in all studios.
If you are participating in a pole class, please make sure not to wear moisturiser / avoid any moisturising 24 hours before your class. This is very important as it will affect your grip and ability to hold onto the pole with your legs, and can cause you fall if not adhered to!
Do You Sell Pole Grip or Dry Hands?
Yes, we have Pole Grip, you can’t get Dry Hands in the UK any more, as they’ve stopped importing it. Our Pole Grip is made in the UK, and sells for £14 per bottle. You can get it from reception, or order it via our webshop.
Facilities FAQs
Do you have a Changing Room? What Other Facilities do You Have?
Our studio has a changing room and toilet facilities, but we do not have showers.
We have lockers in the changing room, and if you train regularly with us, you can bring a padlock and use one while you are in class. Pleaese note, you can not leave possessions overnight or longer.
If you are taking part in a high-intensity/cardio-focused class, you may want to bring a gym towel with you.
Booking FAQs
What is Your Cancellation Policy?
At London Dance Academy we operate a 24 hour cancellation policy. As long as you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled class, you will not lose that class credit.
Credits from cancelled classes are returned to your profile so you can rebook yourself.
There are no refunds on late cancellations. If you late-cancel, you will lose the class credit.
We do understand that a lot can happen in 24 hours and will of course always try to make allowances if you are having trouble due to something beyond your control. Please note we will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion. Always call or email the studio asap so we can help.
What is Your Refund and Transfer Policy?
Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. Individual class credit refunds are available as long as they have not been used and are within the expiry date.
Once you purchase your classes or membership, please make sure you know the expiration date and use all classes before that date.
We are always reasonable and do understand you have other commitments. So, in cases of long-term injury or illness, unforeseen changes in working patterns (such as having to travel abroad for work for long periods), we will of course try to accommodate those changes and pause membership or extend class credit validity.
Please note any extensions are an absolute exception for emergency or very specific circumstances only. They are a concession on our part as we value you as students. Studio management will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion.
For more information, please refer to our Terms & Conditions page.
What Happens if I Arrive Late to a Class?
Please try to be at the studio at least 10 minutes before your class starts.
We operate a Zero Minutes Lateness policy, so if you are late you won’t be permitted to take part.
Our priority is always to deliver classes in a safe manner and to prevent injuries. Please do not take it personally if we have to refuse you entry to a session due to lateness.
For all Aerial Yoga and Aerial Deep Stretch classes, due to the nature of the classes and set-up required, it is not feasible to allow latecomers. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled session. This will permit the teacher time to measure your hammock and explain the health and safety notices before starting.
Please be aware you will not be able to join once a session is underway. Once again, this is for your benefit, to prevent injury and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable class.
Please note our cancellation notice policy is 24 hours prior to your class.
The Timetable Isn't Showing Up in my Web Browser!
You may need to clear your browser cache! This usually clears up any problems.

What is Your Class Waiting List Policy?
When classes are full, you can sign up to be on the waiting list. Frequently, people will cancel early from classes, making room for those on the waiting list. When a student cancels outside the 24 hour cancellation period, you will receive an automatic email, letting you know you have been moved up into the class and asking you to confirm you can attend. If you are added into a class, you will be held to the same cancellation policy as any other class you sign up for.
In case of any late cancellations within the 24 hour late cancellation period, you will still be added to the class from the waiting list and be notified by email, to let you know you have been added to the class from the waiting list.
However, we do appreciate that plans can change, so if you have been added to the class by the automated system within the 24 hour late cancellation period, we will be happy to remove you from the class free of charge should you no longer be able to attend, but please do let us know as soon as you can.
Please make sure we have a valid phone number and email listed on your profile, so we can easily contact you. Also, please make sure you’ve given us permission to contact you via your profile, otherwise you may be moved up automatically into a class and not know! You can do this by going to your profile and permitting us to email or text (or both) you about schedule/class changes.
