Flexibility & Stretching FAQs

Stretching is the act of deliberately elongating the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the body in order to increase flexibility, range of motion, and reduce the risk of injury. It can be done as part of a warm-up or cool-down routine or as a standalone activity.
The benefits of stretching include increased flexibility, improved range of motion, better circulation, reduced muscle tension and soreness, improved athletic performance, and decreased risk of injury.
A flexibility class is a group fitness class that focuses on improving flexibility through a variety of stretching exercises. These classes may include static stretches, dynamic stretches, yoga, and Pilates-inspired movements.
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Avoid wearing anything too tight or restrictive.
It depends on the specific class. Some classes may require a yoga mat or other props, such as blocks or straps. Check with the instructor or gym beforehand to see what equipment is needed.
In a stretching and flexibility class, you can expect to spend the majority of the class performing various stretching exercises, including static and dynamic stretches, yoga, and Pilates-inspired movements. The class may be led by an instructor or done at your own pace, depending on the format.
Anyone can benefit from a stretching and flexibility class, regardless of age or fitness level. These classes are especially beneficial for athletes, dancers, and anyone who engages in regular physical activity.
It is recommended to attend a stretching and flexibility class at least 2-3 times per week in order to see significant improvements in flexibility and range of motion. However, even attending one class per week can still provide some benefits.
If you have any injuries or medical conditions, it is always recommended to consult with your healthcare provider before starting a new exercise program. Additionally, be sure to warm up properly

I dance ballet and really needed flexibility training in addition to the technical training - had a class at London Dance Academy and it was wonderful. The staff is very friendly, teacher was encouraging, and partnered exercises really helped me push my limits in a comfortable environment. Will definitely keep coming back for more!

This school is amazing! I joined it because I'm learning to do splits. Hannah is a really great teacher! She is patient, corrects any mistake, answers all your questions, very professional and always smiles. Thanks to her, I improved my flexibility and hopefully one day, I will be able to do the box and front splits.

We booked a private AGY class for 10 people. We all loved the class, had much fun and appreciated the teacher's professionalism and enthusiasm. We were all beginners, and the class was challenging, without being impossible. We all felt we learnt something and felt stretched and relaxed after the class. Thank you!

Started the virtual classes in August 2021. I wanted to start stretching classes to compliment dance training I do elsewhere. The teachers I've come across so far have all been great but the most noteworthy is Katarina. Her stretching classes are always different, never repetitive. She offers a great mix of passive and active flexibility challenges and is inspiring to work with, offering corrections and options for every move. I've attended so many classes around London in yoga, flexibility, pilates, etc and Katarina is one of the best teachers I've come across. This year I hope to increase the number of classes I am doing to reach my flexibility goals faster. One day I would love to attend the studio but for now the Zoom classes are very accomodating to do before work, during lunch, after work, without sacrificing too much time on commuting.

Splits Therapy (60 minutes) - Melissa Gray Melissa is a wonderful instructor, so warm and attentive; accommodating an injury I have with adjustments/alternative stretches. The class was unlike any splits class I'd been to before in the best possible way infused with gentler yoga moves whilst still pushing and getting results for deeper and more aligned splits.
