Bella Maldener

At what point did you first try Aerial Yoga and why?

I started my Aerial Yoga journey when I lived in Indonesia in 2015. A couple of teachers from Bali came to the Island where I lived and introduced me to Fly High Yoga – an aerial practice that is based in the Iyengar yoga tradition. And I was immediately hooked! A year after I changed to Aerial hammocks.

What was it that made you fall in love with Aerial Yoga in those early stages?

Trying something completely new and unconventional! Loved the feeling of empowerment and “highness” you would have after the practice. As well the playfulness.

What benefits does Aerial Yoga bring to your life on a personal level now?

Unleashing my inner child twice per week, decompressing my spine and supporting my body by giving it a break through hanging upside down (inversion practice) Encouraging others to believe in themselves!

What is it that you love most about teaching?

Encouraging my students to believe in themselves, remembering their strengths inside out, watching them unfolding and start walking a different path (with the right group: Hugs at the end of the class! 🙂 )

What is your proudest fitness achievement to date?

Turning the great grand daughter of Bob Marley upside down. Creating my own aerial yoga teacher training.

How would you define your own personal teaching style?

Depending on the energy in the room it can be high vibing or absolutely grounding. But I love to crack a good joke, cheering everyone up! 🙂 My emphasis lies on the yoga part of the practice and my style is not too acrobatic. Always making sure that everyone feels supported and safe.
