FAQs

Any other questions?

If you have any questions we have not answered in our section above, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will be happy to help!

Please contact us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to help!

Are there any limitations on age, size, fitness or experience?

Fitness levels:

At LDA we cater for all shapes, sizes, fitness and flexibility levels without any limitations.

If you’re unsure if a certain class suits you, please don’t hesitate to contact us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise.

Age limitations:

As an adult school, the minimum age limit is 18, due to insurance purposes.

If you are between 16 and 18 years-old and would like to take part in a class, we would need you to be accompanied by a responsible adult, who will need to sign a disclaimer before you start your class.

No max age limit!

Health advice:

For all classes, please let the instructor know at the start of the class if you have any known health conditions or injuries. This is important, so the teacher is aware and can demonstrate alternative techniques where needed.

For our AntiGravity classes, there is a list of conditions for which it is not recommended to undertake these types of exercise. Please refer to the class description for details or contact us via email or phone if you’re unsure.

If you are pregnant, or think you might be, or have any existing/ongoing health concerns, or have undergone recent surgery, it is always advisable to contact your GP before taking up any new exercise routine.

If anything does not feel right during class, or you feel dizzy, please stop whatever you are doing. Let the teacher know immediately, so we can help you and ensure you are looked after appropriately.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

We provide all equipment as well as yoga mats, blocks, stretching/TheraBands, hand weights and any other kit used in your class.

Please bring a towel if you are taking part in one of our high-intensity cardio classes and don’t forget your water bottle! (Water and Coconut water are available for sale at reception as well).

Grip aids are available from reception including Dry Hands, liquid chalk, Stickum, Itac, and Lupit pole grip. Rosin and dry chalk are provided in aerial classes.

Please remember to eat before your workout (but not too close to the start of your class, of course!) and keep hydrated!

CANCELLATION POLICY:

At LDA we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. As long as you cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled class or waitlist, you will not lose that class. The class will be re-credited to your profile and you will be able to use it for another booking. If you’d like to rebook for a different class type using this credit, please contact us, so we can book you in and carry the credit over.

There are no refunds on late cancellations.  If you late cancel, you will lose the class. This is to allow us to notify anyone on the waiting list in time, and to vacate spaces for anyone else who may want to sign up with enough notice.

We do understand that a lot can happen in 48 hours and will of course always try to make allowances if you are having trouble due to something beyond your control (transport issues, accidents, last minute emergencies). Please note we will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion.

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS:

Memberships are non refundable and non transferable. Individual classes refunds are available as long as they have not been used and are within the expiry date.
Once you purchase you classes or membership, please make sure you know the expiration date and use all classes before that date.

We are always reasonable and do understand you have other commitments. So, in cases of long-term injury or illness, unforeseen changes in working patterns (such as having to travel abroad for work for long periods), we will of course try to accommodate those changes and extend membership or class validity.

Please note any extensions are an absolute exception for emergency or very specific circumstances only. They are a concession on our part as we value you as students. Studio management will assess these on an individual basis and at our discretion.

For more information, please refer to our Terms & Conditions page

LDA Latecomer Policy

At LDA, we understand it can sometimes be difficult to navigate London transport or get out of the office.

We will always try to allow latecomers where the class type permits it up to 5mins after class has started. This is subject to the instructor’s discretion and due to health and safety reasons, so you warm up properly. Our priority is always to deliver classes in a safe manner and to prevent injuries. Please do not take it personally if we have to refuse you entry to a session due to lateness.

For all Antigravity and Aerial Yoga classes, due to the nature of the classes and set-up required, it is not feasible to allow latecomers. Please arrive 5min before your scheduled session. This will permit the teacher to measure your hammock and explain the health and safety notices before starting. Please be aware you will strictly not be able to join once a session is underway. Once again, this is for your benefit, to prevent injury and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable class.

If you think you will be running late, please inform reception, so we can alert your teacher. Please note our cancellation notice policy is 48hrs prior to your class.

Facilities

Our different venues have different facilities, please check with reception or by emailing us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise.

The Old Street LDA venue (Studio 1,2 & 3) has changing room and toilet facilities, but no showers or lockers. Please take valuables into the classroom with you and store them on the hooks/shelves in the room. Please ensure bags, shoes or coats are neatly stored away and don’t interfere with the class activity. We also provide shoe bags free of charge, which you can borrow from reception for easy storage.

If you are taking part in a high-intensity/cardio-focused class, you may want to bring a gym towel with you. Small towels are also available for sale at reception.

Do you offer 1-2-1 sessions? How do I book?

We offer private 1-2-1 tuition in pole dancing, AntiGravity and aerial yoga, as well as flexibility, splits, contortion, acrobatics and aerial hoop, silks or rope.

To book, please contact us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or 020 3490 1018 with your preferred dates and times. We will check teacher and room availability and arrange your session for you.

Private sessions cost from £55 per hour, of which we would require a £20-25 deposit for studio hire at time of booking, depending on the studio size. (This is non-refundable if a booking is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice).

Private 1-2-1 sessions cater for up to 2 participants. If you are looking to book for a bigger group, we can certainly arrange this as well, but session duration and pricing will depend on group size and activity. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will be happy to help!

How do I book?

All our classes can be booked as drop-ins with no membership requirement or upfront joining fee. You can book for as many weeks/months ahead as you like and change any booking up to 48 hours prior to your class.

There are no courses, start or finish dates.

All classes have expiry dates, however, so please ensure you note the expiry date and use your class credits accordingly.

Class prices vary depending on session duration:

45min = £12  / 1hr = £15 / 1.25hrs = £16.50 / 1.5hrs = £18

You can sign up to classes (or waiting lists if a class is fully booked) straight from the timetable and manage your schedule via our MindBody booking system or call us on 020 3490 1018 (12.30-8.30pm weekdays, daytime during weekends).

Alternatively, you can book using our London Dance Academy mobile app (available on Android PlayStore & iTunes), or the MindBody Connect app. Please click on the relevant links at the bottom of the home page to download your apps.

Our membership options offer fantastic discounted rates on single class prices, so do feel free to sign up if you are planning on attending sessions on a regular basis. Please see our prices page for details. We have a range of packages available to suit your preferred training intensity. All memberships include all of the classes we offer at any of our venues.

Class sizes

Class size depends on the size of the studio/venue, but we will always ensure you get plenty of teacher contact and practice time.

All classes are between 6 and 14 participants. Capacities depend on room size and type of class. We guarantee a max of 2 students per pole or aerial equipment, and 1 student per hammock for AntiGravity and aerial yoga classes.

Class sizes appear to the left of the class name on the timetable, so you can see how many people are booked in at any time.

For private one-to-one sessions, these are suitable for up to two participants. Please contact us with your preferred dates, times and content / style.

For private group sessions, we can cater for a wide range of requirements, depending on the activity, so please do get in touch to discuss your needs with us directly by emailing bookings@laphq.co.uk or calling us on 020 3490 1018. Please also see our parties page for more information.

I want to book a private group class/party. How does this work?

We offer a wide range of activities and dance styles for private groups both at our own Old Street venue as well as our partner venues across London.

Please check out our party packages for some ideas of what we can arrange for your special occasion. We also offer a variety of add-ons, so you can relax and leave all the party preparations to us!

We will take care of your party booking from start to finish and advise on accessories ideas as well as after-party activities where we can. Catering for any group size with competitive prices.

Please note, while we are always happy to book with little notice, our venues can get very busy, so we recommend booking as soon as possible.

To enquire about costs or availability, please contact vanessa@laphq.co.uk. Alternatively, please call us on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to help.

All studios are equipped with poles, which can be removed on request. Hire fees include yoga mats and blocks where needed. Our aerial studio also has aerial equipment, including hammocks for AntiGravity yoga, aerial silks, ropes, hoops and trapeze as well as thick acrobatic mats.  Hire fees can include use of equipment on request. We can also provide photography backdrops, please ask us for more details.

Please see our studio hire page for more details and images of the studios.

Waiting list policy

When classes are full, you can sign up to be on the waiting list. Frequently, people will cancel early from classes, making room for those on the waiting list. When a student cancels outside the 48 hour cancellation period, you will receive an automatic email, letting you know you have been moved up into the class and have a definite space. If you are added into a class, you will be held to the same cancellation policy as any other class you sign up for.

In case of any late cancellations within the 48 hour late cancellation period, you will still be added to the class from the waiting list and be notified by phone or email, to let you know you have been added to the class from the waiting list.

However, we do appreciate that plans can change, so if you have been added to the class by the automated system within the 48 hoiur late cancellation period, we will be happy to remove you from the class free of charge should you no longer be able to attend, but please do let us know as soon as you can.

Please make sure we have a valid phone number and email, so we can easily contact you.

What should I wear?

For pole dancing: Sports wear such as fitted shorts/gym shorts, sports bras and/or tank tops or T-shirts and bare feet, and/or high heels depending on the class. Some classes will also require knee pads or removable layers (please refer to each class description for details).

For aerial and yoga classes: Sports wear such as T-shirts or long-sleeve training tops, and leggings with bare feet, socks, or yoga socks.

No see-through material is allowed. No under garments allowed to be used as work out attire.

Please note we have a strict no outdoor shoes policy in all studios.

If you are participating in a pole class, please make sure not to wear moisturiser / avoid any moisturising 24 hours before your class. This is very important as it will affect your grip and ability to hold onto the pole with your legs, and can cause you fall if not adhered to!

Which level am I?

Most of our classes are suitable for all fitness and experience levels, but please refer to the descriptions on the respective class page for details. If you are unsure, please email us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or call us on 020 3490 1018 and we will be happy to advise.

All of our AntiGravity and aerial yoga classes are suitable for all levels, but we would recommend you check each class description carefully before booking, and contact us if you have any questions.

For pole dancing levels, if you are a complete beginner, please start by attending our Discover Pole sessions. Once you’ve done one or two of these, you can progress to Level 1 (Foundation).

All our pole level sessions can be booked flexibly, so you can work around your work schedule and other commitments. You can tailor your lessons to your desired training intensity. Your teacher will let you know when you have mastered all the moves for the respective level.

Please note, you should only go to a higher level once a teacher has confirmed you’re ready.

Not a beginner but not sure which level is right for you?

You might be coming from a different school or country, and our grading system might be different to what you are used to. Or if you had a break, you may not be quite sure where to start from again.

In either case, we would suggest taking one of our Pole Practice (all levels) classes to start with. A teacher will be on hand to observe you and advise on the classes most suited to you. The teacher can also let you know what level you are, of course, at LDA.

We also run a wide range of choreography, spinning pole, flow, tricks, flexibility and conditioning classes for all levels. Our flexibility and conditioning classes have been specially designed to cater for dancers and aerialists. Our teachers are always happy to advise which specific classes you would benefit from to maximise your progress and training success.

Which venue is my class at?

We operate across a number of venues in Central London. Your venue name is indicated in brackets behind the class name on the timetable. Our venue locations also appear at the bottom of your purchase receipt or reservation confirmation.

For venue addresses and map links, please go to our venues page.

For any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at bookings@laphq.co.uk or call us on 020 3490 1018. Please make sure you give yourself enough time and are attending the correct venue.

Not all classes can permit latecomers – please refer to our latecomers’ policy for details.

Attending the wrong venue means you may not be able to get to the correct venue in time, and therefore will lose your class / credit. Please feel free to check with us, especially if you are attending a certain venue for the first time.
